PROFILE

Rev. John Shadrack Donkoh attended Jonathan Ekong Memorial Lutheran Seminary in Nigeria. As a young pastor, He was ordained in 1991 and subsequently served and planted churches throughout Ghana. From 1994-2002, he served as a missionary to Uganda and further served as Manager of Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) in that country from 1995-2003.

He later served as Country Director for LHM in Ghana from 2003-2011. President Donkoh formerly served the ELCG as secretary of the Ministerial Conference (2003-2008), as Vice Chairman of its Restructuring Committee (2006), and as Secretary of the Disaster Committee (2007-2011).

He completed three years of advanced studies at Westfield House in Cambridge, England. At the time of his election to president, he was serving as pastor of the Anyaa congregation in Accra, Ghana. and a part-time lecturer at the ELCG’s seminary in Sasaabi.

President Donkoh’s election followed two years of work as the ELCG developed a new system of governance for the church. A convention in January 2018 saw the church adopt a new constitution, which precipitated the March elections.

In August 2021, he was re-elected to serve another 3-year term as the President of the Church. His re-election came after he obtained 98% votes unopposed at the Church’s Delegates Conference at Bawku of the Upper East Region in Northern Ghana, on 21st March 2021.

Rev. John S. Donkoh who served as missions strategist on various boards in Africa faces again the privilege of expanding Christ’s kingdom through evangelism and missions as stated in his vision of a 10-year strategic plan.

He was among the first batch of graduates of the Lutheran Leadership Development Program (LLDP) in the United States of America. Currently, Rev. John Shadrack Donkoh is the Secretary to the Board of Directors of the International Lutheran Council (ILC), headquarters in USA.

Bishop Donkoh is married to Monic and they are blessed with five (5) Children.
